My coach and I are on a break. No talking triathlon, no training for triathlon, no thinking about triathlon. I wasn't supposed to cheat, but I did. I signed up for the Spirit of Racine HIM today. That's it, coach, I promise! No more cheating!!!
My 2008 racing season is now officially over. It ended yesterday with the Des Moines Half Marathon. I will spare everyone the details and just say it - I DNF'd. I got to a point I couldn't fight through the IT band pain and walked off the course at mile 8. It sucked. I hated having to do it, but there was just no way I could even walk myself in. I don't know why it happened or how it happened. It just did. And I'm not going to waste my time trying to figure it out. It's done, it's over, moving on.
Time to rest now. We'll be back at it soon enough, but for now I'm becoming a couch potato. For a week at least. ;)

I am so proud of you! A half IM!? You are so impressive.
Don't worry about the DNF. Crap happens all the time. At least you can walk off and know that you didn't do so much damage that you can't ever move again. Look at the VERY impressive races that you had this year...concentrate on your successes!!!!

Wow, you have accomplished a lot in the last year. May be you could use your time off to master Mario Olmypics!
I think Mario Olympics would cross the line my coach has set for me. I get too sweaty and out of breath playing that game. That should only be played while training so I have the endurance to win the Gold medal in the 400IM!!
Oh no - lurking in with a ACK!! for the IT band - my year with it stunk and you're a superstar for stopping to avoid further injury, because that's the hardest thing to do! I DNF'd over my IT band this year as well. Take great care of it this off season so you can have a great 09!
